THE MALAYSIAN TIMBER INDUSTRY CELEBRATES
Campaign brochure of JOANGOHutan
The Network of Indigenous Peoples Organisations and NGOs
on Forest Issues in Malaysia.
The Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC) tells us they can certify our timber to be legal. The timber may not have been sourced from a sustainable forest or in a sustainable manner. The timber may have also been cut from the traditional lands of the Orang Asli without their consent. But they can be certified as legal — as long as they conform to the laws of the country, and as long as they satisfy the criteria and indicators so established by MTCC.
